Ulasan 2 OS - Types of semaphore values

Ulasan kedua saya adalah untuk video berjudul 'Lecture 2, Unit 2: semaphore values' yang beralamat pada https://youtu.be/lLJErQna3no dan dipublish oleh Mike Swift. Video tersebut berdurasi 5 menit 43 detik.

Semaphore pada dasarnya memiliki 2 tipe yaitu binary dan counting semaphore. Jenis pertama yaitu binary semaphore adalah semaphore dengan value 1 atau 0. Semaphore ini biasa disebut mutex dan berguna sebagai simple lock untuk akses ke sebuah shared resources sehingga hanya ada satu proses yang bisa mengakses resource tersebut dalam satu waktu. Jenis kedua adalah counting semaphore. Semaphore jenis ini memungkinkan lebih dari satu proses yg bisa mengakses resource selama tidak melebihi size

Setelah menonton video ini, saya mengetahui bahwa semaphore tidak hanya ada satu jenis, mutex saja. Tetapi ada juga counting semaphore yang bisa digunakan untuk problem seperti producer-consumer problem. Contoh yang diberikan juga sudah cukup membantu saya memahami aplikasi semaphore di dunia nyata.
